who we work with:
HOPE works
with some of Kenya’s most vulnerable young people, aged 11 – 30 years,
in Kenya. This forgotten counties, comprising
countless orphans and high poverty areas, is hugely impoverished and
receives limited support from major aid agencies and NGOs.
Here,
the vast majority of families live on less than a dollar a day and
HIV/AIDS is rampant; girls as young as 10 prostitute themselves to buy
basic necessities and cases of sexual and physical abuse are all too
common. With high levels of unemployment and little economic
opportunity, too many young people turn to drug and alcohol abuse and
crime.
By
developing young peoples’ interest in sport, providing them with role
models and growing their self-esteem, HOPE aims to help youth growing up
in some of Africa’s toughest conditions make positive and healthy
decisions.
