This project
aims at creating awareness and sensitizing our soccer team members on effects
of engaging in CRIME, DRUGS ABUSE and IRRESPONSIBLE ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION and in
our community and action plan on how to address it.The project targets both youth from 11-30 years.HOPE has a soccer themed curriculum that our trained coaches use to implement the sessions in schools, rehab centers, orphanages and community clubs.
What we need to do as a community
For us to tackle these problems of
Drug Abuse and Insecurity, we need to address the issue of idleness and
dropping off school among our middle aged youths, most of the robberies and
killings are done by young boys and girls of school going age. With these in
mind, if we can put our youths in safe institutions like schools and colleges
or help them engage in positive social activities like sports and arts then
crime and drug abuse will be significantly reduced.
We
need as a community to promote engagement in sports as an alternative to
idleness, loitering in the streets, drug abuse and involvement in crime. Sports
bring with it several benefits to our teenagers that include joining
professional sports team, getting scholarships, physical fitness and most
important positive social interaction with fellow youth practicing positive
social values as stressed in sports institutions like HOPE.
